Snow Day!

Babies don't mind that it is snowing at the Lifetime Adoption Center in Northern California. Adoption staff at the adoption facilitation center has been working around the clock with births and women making adoption plans.

Heather Featherston, Lifetime's Director, says that the last few months have been the busiest in Lifetime's 23 year history. "We've had more than 36 adoptions in the last three months alone," she says. "December will likely break all records for the total number of adoptions in a single month!"

There is a need for adoptive families as well. Featherston states that waiting families are getting matched very quickly, many in just a matter of months after starting the process. "One family visiting today has their baby in less than seven months!" Lifetime is currently accepting applications for families hoping to adopt. (Visit Lifetime Adoption's website to apply and learn more.)

Lifetime's founder Mardie Caldwell, C.O.A.P. reports that infant adoptions do increase when the economy is tough. "More women than ever before are looking for help with their pregnancies, both planned and unplanned, and are seeking adoption as an option," Caldwell says. "We have seen such an increase in women who need assistance with adoption and support. Common requests are for food, maternity clothes, toiletries, and household items."
